Privacy & Terms
Every simulation on Huge Mess is fiction - a playful, AI-driven scenario, not real news, professional advice, or an accurate depiction of any real person or event. Please don't share sensitive personal information in a chat.
What we collect
Your account. If you sign in, we keep the email address you used to sign in, plus a session cookie that keeps you signed in between visits. Sign-in is passwordless (a one-time link sent to your email) - we never ask for or store a password.
Your messages. When you chat with a simulation, what you type is sent to Anthropic to generate a reply, and logged to Langfuse, a tracing tool we use to review and improve how the simulations play. This never links to your account, signed in or not - we deliberately keep the content of every conversation separate from who played it.
Your IP address. Used to enforce a rate limit against abuse, we don't store it long-term or attach it to anything you said.
Your email address. Beyond your account, only collected if you separately sign up for our newsletter. That signup is handled entirely by Kit, our newsletter provider.
Play outcomes. If you're signed in, winning or losing a simulation is linked to your account so you can see which simulations you've completed.
Visit data. Umami Cloud, our analytics provider, records aggregate visit data - pages viewed, referrer, country-level location, device and browser type - without cookies or any individual identifier tied to you.
Who we share it with
We rely on a small number of outside services to run Huge Mess: Anthropic (generates in-chat replies), Langfuse (conversation tracing), Simregistry (simulation gamestates) , Kit (newsletter), Supabase (database hosting), Umami Cloud (visitor analytics), and Sentry (error monitoring, if enabled). Most of these are based in the US, so your data may be processed outside the EU/EEA as part of using the site.
How long we keep it
Account data, and the win/lose outcomes linked to it, are kept until you delete your account. Conversation traces are kept in Langfuse and game states in simregistry for as long as we need them to review and improve simulations - independent of whether you were signed in, since they're never linked to an account either way. Newsletter data is kept until you unsubscribe.
Cookies
If you sign in, we set one strictly-necessary session cookie to keep you signed in - it doesn't track you across other sites. Beyond that, Huge Mess doesn't use tracking or advertising cookies - our visit analytics (Umami Cloud, above) works without cookies or an individual identifier.
